Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician assists licensed pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, maintaining records, managing inventory, and providing customer service to ensure safe and efficient pharmacy operations.

Key Responsibilities

Receive and process prescription orders (written, electronic, or verbal under supervision).

Prepare and label medications accurately under pharmacist supervision.

Measure, count, and package medications.

Maintain patient records and update pharmacy databases.

Handle insurance claims and billing processes.

Manage inventory, including ordering and stocking medications.

Ensure compliance with pharmacy laws and safety standards.

Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare providers.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy area.

 

Requirements

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Pharmacy Technician certification (as required by state/country regulations).

Basic knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Good communication and customer service skills.

Basic computer skills.

Previous experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting.

Knowledge of pharmacy software systems.

Familiarity with insurance processing.
