Job Summary
The Pharmacy Procurement Support Officer assists in the sourcing, purchasing, and supply management of pharmaceutical products and consumables. The role ensures timely procurement, proper documentation, inventory coordination, and compliance with regulatory and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Support
- Assist in sourcing medicines, medical supplies, and consumables from approved vendors
- Prepare and process purchase orders in line with company procedures
- Follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods
- Track orders and resolve any supply or delivery issues
Vendor Management
- Maintain updated supplier database and contact information
- Support vendor evaluation and performance tracking
- Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, availability, and lead times
Inventory Coordination
- Work closely with inventory and pharmacy teams to monitor stock levels
- Assist in preventing stock-outs and overstocking
- Support stock forecasting based on consumption trends
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate procurement records, invoices, and delivery notes
- Ensure all purchases comply with regulatory requirements (e.g., NAFDAC, PCN guidelines where applicable)
- Assist in audit preparation and documentation
Cost Control & Reporting
- Support price comparisons and cost analysis for procurement decisions
- Help identify cost-saving opportunities
- Prepare basic procurement reports (orders, deliveries, supplier performance)
Requirements
Education
- Minimum of OND / HND in Pharmacy, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field
Experience
- 1–3 years experience in procurement, preferably in a pharmacy or healthcare setting
Skills & Competencies
- Basic knowledge of pharmaceutical products and supply chain processes
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
- Good communication and negotiation skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and inventory management systems
