The Pharmacy Assistant supports the pharmacist in delivering basic healthcare services within the pharmacy. The role includes assisting with patient care, conducting basic health checks, supporting minor clinical procedures, and ensuring a clean and safe environment for patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Measure and record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, blood glucose).
  • Assist with administering injections and immunizations as permitted by law and under supervision.
  • Provide first aid for minor injuries and emergencies.
  • Assist with wound dressing and basic treatment procedures.
  • Educate patients on medication usage and general health practices as directed by the pharmacist.
  • Maintain accurate records of services provided.
  • Ensure proper infection control and hygiene standards.
  • Clean and prepare equipment and service areas.
  • Monitor and restock medical and clinical supplies.
  • Refer complex or emergency cases to the pharmacist or appropriate healthcare facility

 

Requirements

  • Certificate in Nursing Assistant or related healthcare training.
  • Valid practicing license (if required by local regulations).
  • Basic knowledge of patient care and medication handling.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a retail or community pharmacy environment.
