Job Summary
The Nursing Assistant in a pharmacy supports the pharmacist and healthcare team in providing basic patient care services, assisting with medication preparation and dispensing processes, and ensuring efficient daily operations. The role involves interacting with patients, assisting with basic health checks, and maintaining proper hygiene and safety standards within the pharmacy.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the pharmacist with patient care services and routine pharmacy operations.
- Take and record basic vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, and weight when required.
- Help prepare prescriptions for the pharmacist’s review and dispensing.
- Provide basic guidance to patients on medication use as directed by the pharmacist.
- Assist in organizing and maintaining patient records and documentation.
- Ensure cleanliness and proper sanitation of the pharmacy and equipment.
- Support inventory management, including stocking shelves and checking expiry dates.
- Assist patients with inquiries and direct them to the pharmacist when necessary.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and medical records.
- Follow all pharmacy regulations, health, and safety procedures.
Requirements
- Minimum qualification: Certificate or Diploma in Nursing Assistant/Health Care Assistant or related field.
- Previous experience in a pharmacy, clinic, or hospital setting is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and medications.
- Ability to take vital signs and record patient information accurately.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
