The Nursing Assistant in a pharmacy supports both clinical and administrative functions, assisting pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and patients. The role ensures safe medication handling, basic patient care, and efficient pharmacy operations

Key Responsibilities:

1. Patient Care & Support

  • Assist patients in understanding medication instructions as directed by licensed pharmacists.
  • Take basic patient vitals if required (e.g., blood pressure, glucose checks).
  • Provide compassionate support to patients, especially the elderly or those with chronic conditions.

2. Medication & Pharmacy Assistance

  • Help prepare and label prescriptions under pharmacist supervision.
  • Assist in inventory management – stock medications, check expiry dates, and organize shelves.
  • Ensure medications are stored safely according to pharmacy standards.
  • Deliver medications to patients when required.

3. Administrative Support

  • Maintain accurate patient records and pharmacy logs.
  • Handle phone calls, schedule appointments, and answer patient queries.
  • Assist in processing insurance claims and payment transactions.

4. Hygiene & Safety

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pharmacy environment.
  • Follow all health, safety, and infection control procedures.
  • Report any discrepancies or adverse reactions to the supervising pharmacist.

Requirements

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Certification as a Nursing Assistant / Health Care Assistant.
  • Basic knowledge of medications and pharmacy operations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle sensitive patient information.
