About the Role:
The Intern Pharmacist supports the pharmacy team in delivering safe, effective, and high-quality pharmaceutical services under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The role involves assisting with medication dispensing, patient counseling, inventory management, and ensuring compliance with pharmacy regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the dispensing of prescription and over-the-counter medications under supervision
- Review prescriptions for accuracy and completeness before processing
- Support the pharmacist in providing medication counseling and patient education
- Assist in monitoring drug interactions, contraindications, and dosage appropriateness
- Maintain accurate patient medication records and documentation
- Support stock management, including inventory checks, stock rotation, and expiry monitoring
- Ensure proper storage of medications according to regulatory standards
- Assist in handling customer and patient inquiries professionally
- Participate in pharmacovigilance activities and report adverse drug reactions where necessar
Requirements / Qualifications
- Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) degree from a recognized institution
- Must be undergoing mandatory internship training
- Provisional license/registration with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (if applicable)
- Good knowledge of pharmaceutical practices and medication management
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Good teamwork and willingness to learn
