The Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing medications accurately, ensuring safe and effective pharmaceutical care, and providing professional guidance to patients on the proper use of medications. The role also involves inventory management, regulatory compliance, and supporting overall pharmacy operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Medication Dispensing & Patient Care

  • Accurately dispense prescription and over-the-counter medications.
  • Review prescriptions for accuracy, dosage, and potential drug interactions.
  • Provide patient counseling on medication usage, side effects, and storage.

2. Clinical & Professional Duties

  • Monitor patient medication therapy and ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Identify and resolve medication-related problems.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in line with professional standards.

3. Inventory & Stock Management

  • Manage drug inventory, including ordering, stocking, and expiry monitoring.
  • Ensure proper storage conditions for all pharmaceutical products.
  • Minimize wastage and prevent stock outs of essential medications.

4. Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with pharmacy laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
  • Maintain proper documentation and record-keeping (controlled drugs, prescriptions, etc.).
  • Adhere to guidelines set by regulatory bodies (e.g., PCN).

5. Customer Service & Sales

  • Deliver excellent customer service and build strong patient relationships.
  • Handle customer inquiries and complaints professionally.
  • Support sales targets through ethical product recommendations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm or Pharm .D).
  • Valid practicing license with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN).
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a community or retail pharmacy
